Announcement of Disciplinary decision:

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 57 of the Nova Scotia Medical Act, Dr. George S. Richardson of Halifax admits to the allegations contained in a settlement agreement with the College and agrees that they constitute professional misconduct. Dr. Richardson’s licence to practice medicine was revoked as of February 15, 2011.

Announcement of Disciplinary decision:

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of a complaint and pursuant to the Nova Scotia Medical Act, Dr. George Richardson has agreed to a six-month suspension of his registration and medical license. A Hearing Committee has accepted this agreement. Dr. Richardson committed professional misconduct by having sexual intercourse with a vulnerable patient in 1990. He also lacked candour in a letter to the Registrar of the Medical Board in 1990 when he failed to disclose the sexual intercourse. The reasons for the Hearing Committee’s decision are below.

Condition:

Permanently prohibited from prescribing drugs under Schedule I and II of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and must consent to the College releasing notice of his prohibition to any organization issuing such privileges, including Health Canada

Must post a sign in the office visible to patients, outlining the restrictions on prescribing narcotics
